Information on The Journal of An Existential Believer

Plot

Graham Macfarlane, a struggling writer, is losing his mind. One day, 19th-century philosopher Soren Kierkegaard turns up in a dream and calls him on a quest to avenge him. Soon, other philosophers and historical figures begin appearing at his house, in the supermarket, and down the pub, all clamouring for attention. Drawn into a surreal adventure mirroring Hamlet, The Matrix, and Apocalypse Now, Graham eventually travels to a remote island in the Philippines for a final dramatic showdown with them all.

Blurring the lines of fiction and autobiography, The Journal of an Existential Believer is an exploration of choice, freedom, destiny, reality, mental health, language, identity, and the times we live in. Featuring over seventy familiar and not-so-familiar faces from the past, it is a funny, erudite, and at times quizzical novel for the discerning 21st-century reader.
